Batsheva Dance Company: 'It's about making the body listen'

Why we dance? I's a lot about listening to our body more than tell it what to do. It's about delicacy, it's about the scope of sensations, efficiency. And it can only come from putting the volume of the listening higher and higher. People can do amazing things with their bodies, but if they don't listen to their bodies, I call it dead flesh. It's a lot about the ability to acquire new habits, the ability to recognize our weaknesses, flow, information, availability. About connecting to our sensuality, to our passion. Connect to this act of  listening.

I like to connect effort to pleasure. Pleasure is the safety net that we don't hurt ourselves.
And When I talk about happy moments, I talk about moments of discovery, being really moved watching my dancers. We do it on a daily basis, we create wow moments for ourselves. We don't need to do much, because we can turn the volume of listening up and very delicate stuff become wild.
